There is a vegetable market near my home which was a street before. After the street was occupied by vegetable vendors, the government took various measures to maintain the normal traffic and humanity life in this area. Apart from the road markings on the ground, rows of trash cans are used to divide the sales area and the driving area. One day when I bought vegetables, I found that the natural development of the city together with the governor’s planning and inhibition constituted a chaotic and reasonable scene.
In the subsequent travelling and investigation in cities, I found the chaos caused by excessive overlapped boundaries could almost be seen everywhere in municipal transportation and residents’ private life.
In my works, I brought the aggregation of boundaries to the improperly repaired roads and the marked parking lots covered by vegetation to create a sense of spatial disorder. If the originally pure space is under people’s endless restriction and planning, will the space be finally invalidated due to our effective division?
